Two Are Better Coming to South Portland, Maine

Two Are Better Event PosterDebbie and I are headed to Maine this weekend. Books-a-million in South Portland is hosting us for a book signing event. Two Are Better: Midlife Newlyweds Bicycle Coast to Coast is currently available at their store, which is adjacent to the Maine Mall. We look forward to connecting with folks and sharing our story. Further details are in this news release.

We’ve done a fair amount of sharing our story of late. Since early July, we’ve been working with a publicist to expose the buying public to us, our story, and our book. It’s been a good experience…helpful for sharing our story and great for personal growth. We’ve been interviewed on roughly 25 broadcast media stations. Learning on the fly with live interviews has been a hoot. You might enjoy some selected highlights of this campaign linked below.

Another facet of this publicity campaign was exposure through print media and the Internet, with reviews being a primary emphasis. Two Are Better was mentioned in a few magazines, but more eventful was our virtual book tour, which highlights reviews, interviews, and other material about our book. To date, Two Are Better has a 4.6 rating on Amazon. Here are two recent reviews:

Valerie Porter, Author and Book Reviewer at “Bookpleasures.com”

Ruth Hill, Book Reviewer at “My Devotional Thoughts”

More interviews and reviews can be found on the Open Road Press links page.

With book publicity, there is no guarantee that an appearance or a review will translate to book sales. We’ve learned that firsthand. In fact, book marketing has come as billed. Throughout this entire project, I read time and again that writing and publishing our book would be the easy part. The marketing would require more effort, and would be crucial to helping drive book sales.

Regardless of how many books we sell, we’re hopeful that our story and our message are touching lives. That message is this: when God plants a dream or desire deep within, rest assured He is faithful to complete it. Keep those dreams alive and be ready to act when the time is right. It is never too late!

      Hi Don,

It was a pleasure to meet with you yesterday and to learn about your interest in touring by bicycle. Please let us know if we can answer any questions as you consider possible trips. And please let us know when you do embark on one. It’s well within your grasp.

Thanks for participating in our event.
