Debbie and I are happy to announce the release of our second coauthored print book, Wheels of Wisdom: Life Lessons for the Restless Spirit. This book features fifty-two lessons from our ten thousand miles of self-supported bicycle touring. You can purchase Wheels of Wisdom in the Open Road Press store or in e-book format under Amazon’s Kindle Select program. You can also ask for the print edition at your local bookstore or find it at your favorite online bookseller. Bookmasters – Atlas Books is the distributor.
Content and Perspective
Wheels of Wisdom provides plenty of action with its adventuresome traveling vignettes. It also aims to inspire, encourage, and motivate readers. People who follow us already know that we were single professionals with ample life experience before marrying one another at age fifty-two six years ago. We’ve since taken up bicycle touring.
We write to a general audience from a Christian worldview. This book is not only appropriate for adventurers and others who are interested in what adventure can teach us about ourselves and about life, but also for church small group study.
Debbie and I also volunteer as Hope Coaches for TheHopeLine, a help service that we reference in our latest book. This book’s launch will provide some support for young people, as explained in an upcoming blog post entitled Book Launch with a Cause.
Early Reviews
Wheels of Wisdom rolls into the book marketplace with strong support. Not many self-published books are selected for review by Publishers Weekly, which dubbed this book “a road map for life.” Furthermore, twenty pre-publication reviewers endorsed “Wheels.” Among those providing accolades are the CEOs of three nonprofit organizations, New York Times bestselling author Dan Miller (48 Days to the Work You Love), La Salle University men’s basketball coach Dr. John Giannini, and Jim Sayer, the executive director of Adventure Cycling Association.
