Book Launch to Benefit Crisis Help Service TheHopeLine
Publishers Weekly selects cycling couple’s latest book for review
THOMPSON’S STATION, TENNESSEE – October 4, 2016 – Two adventure cyclists are helping a cause close to their hearts with the launch of a new inspirational book about their journeys.
Authors Tim and Debbie Bishop are giving the proceeds from paperback sales of “Wheels of Wisdom: Life Lessons for the Restless Spirit” to TheHopeLine, a crisis help service for teens and young adults. The donation program applies to all sales from the authors’ Open Road Press website through the end of October.
In “Wheels of Wisdom,” the Bishops share with readers 52 inspirational encounters from their self-supported bicycle tours across America. The book, the third by the Middle Tennessee couple, is a “seeker’s devotional” from a Christian perspective.
A recent Publishers Weekly review of the book said, “Those looking for a road map for life can get directions from the Bishops. … The book incorporates faith without unnecessary preaching.”
“We know ‘Wheels of Wisdom’ has the ability to touch people because of its inspirational and motivational content,” Debbie Bishop said. “With our offer to donate book proceeds, we also think it can help people who reach out to TheHopeLine for help with their problems. As HopeCoaches and long-time donors for TheHopeLine, we know how much that organization accomplishes with limited resources. We love its mission, its people and its work. With more money, TheHopeLine could help so many more people.”
This year alone, TheHopeLine has intervened in the lives of more than 6,000 people who were struggling with suicidal thoughts. The help service began as the rescue arm of the Dawson McAllister Association in 1991 to offer a listening ear, encouragement and biblically based advice to young people. The Spring Hill, Tennessee-based organization’s founder, Dawson McAllister, has been engaging teenagers and young adults for more than 40 years as an author, radio personality and lecturer. Youth connect to TheHopeLine through radio programming as well as thehopeline.com website.
Why give away all of the proceeds on initial sales of a costly book project years in the making? Tim Bishop explained, “In a few short years, Debbie and I won’t be here anymore. We’ll leave behind a generation that is struggling mightily with relationships, addictions, depression and suicidal thoughts. Jesus said we ought to let our light shine before men so that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. That’s what we want this project to be about — both the book content and our donation to TheHopeLine.”
Published in July 2016, “Wheels of Wisdom: Life Lessons for the Restless Spirit” retails for $14.99 and is distributed by Bookmasters – Atlas Books. To increase the Bishops’ donation to TheHopeLine, go to https://openroadpress.com/helpthehopeline/ and purchase a book.
